Merry Christmas!

"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas"It started snowing on the 18th and just kept on snowing. The funny thing was that the storm was scheduled to come in on the 17th and so everyone cancelled school in anticipation and it didn't come, it was bone dry. The next morning it came though, and in total we had over a foot and a half of snow, which isn't tons according to Michigan standards but it shut down Seattle!

"The stockings were hung by chimney with care"

I just finished making Ethan's stocking on Christmas Eve. Everyone said that he wouldn't mind if I didn't finish it but I wanted to have it done...and when I set my mind to something it is hard to talk me out of it!

"With hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there..." Poor Jada had a temperature of 104 degrees and as soon as she was done opening most of her presents, she wanted to be back in bed. "He's a mean one, Mr. Grinch" (check out the t-shirt)
And his trusty dog, Max Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

12 Days Before Christmas

On the 12 days before Christmas our family has been busy with....

10 trays of homemade chocolates and caramels

9 houses caroled at

8 strait days of Snowin'
7 dozen cookies

6 days Kailey couldn't eat anything because she had her tonsils/adnoids removed

5 teacher's presents

4 Sleds for sledding 3 Gingerbread houses
2 Choir concerts

1 Very Merry Christmas!

O Christmas Tree

Every December we go to a tree farm in Issaquah and cut down our Christmas tree. This was a tradition that was started by my family when I was a little girl. This year Kailey was the lucky person who chose the perfect Christmas tree!

We always take turns sawing it down

And we have added the tradition of eating white fudge oreos since Shawn came into the family! Then we finish it off with a rendition of "O Christmas Tree" and since we only know the first two lines we end up "na na na"ing most of the song!

And this is the final product!

Yeah--those 3 nights were just a teaser! We are back to our 3 am feedings! Who needs sleep anyways?

The Big 4!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAYDEN!Brayden LOVES cars (to bad we aren't still in Detroit!) so for his birthday cake he got my best effort to make one out of cake. Lucky for me, as long as it has cake, icing and candy anything works!Then I found out what I had planned as a family party for Brayden was also a party for me (our birthdays are only 2 days apart)I'm so old I needed two other people to help me blow out my candles

Knock on Wood

It seems like 8 months is the magic number. Ethan has started to actually eat his food rather than spit it back all over me. AND, he has slept through the night 3 nights in a row (from 12-6 am). I really hope that it doesn't jinx me to actually write that down! We will see....

Who's That Struttin?

For Thanksgiving our family has a tradition of something called the "Turkey Trot". This is where the kids put on turkey tails and dance to the tune of "Mister Turkey".The kids love it but then it begins to expand to the grandmas... Then to the teenagers/young adults, who used to do it as kids...

And finally to the adults who don't want to admit they are not kids anymore...

NO ONE IS SAFE! If you are ever invited to a Thanksgiving with the Newtons, Beware! You will be dancing for food!
