Okay--I'm ready

I know I have 4 days left until my due date, but I'm soooooo ready for this baby to come. Everything is washed, set-up, cleaned, bought....etc. I think this is the first time I've actually had a bag packed, schedule written out, basically, been ready. With all the other kids I had things I had to finish and was frantically trying to do those things and not so caught up on when the baby was coming. So, all I can say is bring it on....NOW (please)!

Kailey's 7th Birthday!

I can't believe we have a 7 year old! She's growing up so fast! And since I am 38 weeks pregnant we decided that a smaller party was the way to go this year. Luckily, Kailey was fine with it so we had 5 girls over for lunch/cake/presents at our house and then we headed to the bowling alley. Kailey and the girls had a great time, dare I say a "ball", and now that Kailey has had her day it is time to prepare for the next birthday ('I'm hoping sooner rather than later)!

Brayden now wears underwear!

So, about two weeks ago I decided it was now or never and I told Brayden that I was not buying anymore diapers and that when we ran out that he would have to wear big boy underwear. He seemed to accept it and for the first time didn't fight with me about not being a "big boy". So, on the first day we had a couple accidents but after that, hardly any problems! It will be the first time I have not had two kids in diapers at one time...let's hear it for little victories!!!

Considering I can no longer find my ankles, I felt that this was an appropriate demonstration of the correct way of measuring one's weight!

Driving Home

Last night we went to Shawn's parent's home last night for his brother's birthday celebration. There isn't much for the kids to do there and so by the end of the night they were bouncing off the walls and I felt like all I was doing was telling them "no" or "stop that"! It was about 8:30 by the time we all piled into the car, I was exhausted and feeling quite beat up and we had a 45 minute car ride ahead of us. So we are driving along and Brayden noticed that there were not a lot of cars on the road and he asked Shawn where all the cars were and Shawn replied that "they were asleep". Then when we saw the next car Brayden mentioned that that car was up and Shawn told him to tell the car "to go to sleep". So for the next couple of cars Brayden and then the girls started telling each car to go to sleep, which was fine, until we got into a busy section of town and they were no longer using soft voices but yelling at each car to "go home and go to sleep"! Frazzled, I turned around and informed the kids that they could no longer yell at the cars but they could count them in their minds. Brayden thought about it for a second and then said, "but mom, there are no cars in my mind so that's not going to work for me!" Shawn and I busted up and it certainly made the rest of the ride more enjoyable. I'm glad that kids are able to keep everything in perspective, mine definitely keep me on my toes!

Tag....I'm it, so here it goes

1. 10 years ago: I had been dating Shawn for over 2 years and he was taking the discussions from the missionaries and was thinking about getting baptized. I was living in the University District in Seattle in an apartment with Rebecca Kuno and I'd finished two years of school at BYU.

2. 5 things on my to-do-list today:
*buy & wrap a Birthday present for Kailey's friend's party today
*call a couple people to find subs for the Bunko night at my house on Saturday
*fold the laundry (that's been on my to do list for a couple days now)
*grocery shopping
*set up my last visiting teaching appointment

3. Snacks I enjoy: almonds, celery and peanut butter, cheese and crackers, any kind of fruit, anything with chocolate, homemade salsa (pico de gallo) & tortilla chips.

4. Things I would do if I were suddenly a billionaire: I would buy a villa on a beach somewhere tropical and fly out all my friends I haven't seen in a long time. Then I would I would pay my dad's legal bills, and treat my whole family to a vacation somewhere in Italy or Australia. I would get a bigger house (with a maid) and I would buy Shawn whatever car he wants this week. I would also pay for Shawn's siblings education.

7. Things people don't know about me: I hate people or things touching my face, I didn't cook a meal for the first year of our marriage (long story), and I had my tonsils and adnoids removed when I was five and my mom kept them and put them next to my bed in a jar of pickle juice to preserve them.

Celebrate!

We just got the verdict from the jury and after 3 1/2 long years we finally heard the words "Not Guilty"! I'm at a loss of words to describe the relief and joy that I'm feeling at the moment but the gratitude I have for the faith and prayers of my friends and family is overwhelming. I know that Heavenly Father answers prayers and even though we were prepared to accept His will in this situation (good or bad), I'm glad that our desires were in line with His and that we were not asked to partake of this particular cup. Thank you far all you do and for your love!


P.S. And along the lines of celebrating, congratulations to Kath & Tim who just found out today that they were expecting TWINS! What an exciting day!!!
